Uncle Burger is not open tonight ... no buns.
I had rejected the whole consignment of buns from the bakery cos it's just not fresh and therefore not up to Uncle Burger standards.
For those who don't know: Uncle Burger's buns are no older than 3 days from the bakery. Once past the 3rd day, I throw out whatever is left.

Koff!! Koff!!!
Uncle Burger is not open tonight due an extremely bad and highly contagious cough. I am not willing to share it with you folks - Aunty Burger says, "STAY AWAY!" Have to listen to her ... she is after all, a food technologist by profession. A food doctor, if you will ...
Those that came around last night would have noticed the coughs building up ...

Just so you know ...
The cost of Uncle Burger's patties - chicken, beef, shrimp, and fish - have all gone up between 5 to 10 sen per piece with immediate effect.
Ok ... let me re-phrase that: Uncle Burger has to pay between 5 to 10 sen more per burger patty now.
However, I am still maintaining my last price to you - what you see on my menuboard - since July 1.

The Blade, or the FZi?
I'm in a predicament ... a good one, nonetheless ... Which should I get, the Naza Blade 250, or the Yamaha FZ150i?
Yamaha FZ150i
Yeah, yeah I know ... one's a 250cc and the other's just a 150cc ... I've always wanted a 250 bike. I dislike faired sportbikes (the likes of motoGP racer, Uncle ain't.)
But I do like long-distance touring, up the mountains and thru the Peninsular; soaking in the sights. The Blade sounds the better bike to do this, but Uncle Burger will have to go into debt for the bigger bike.
If you vote for the Blade, I also hope that you vote to have your next burger at Uncle Burger's and recommend your friends and family for theirs' - deal? Hehehehe!

The unpredictable rain
Uncle Burger couldn't open tonight, again due to the unpredictable rainfall. Sorry, people :-(

Sicky sicky days
Uncle Burger is not open tonight ... Firstly, due to a fever - then the rain.
Last week it was the kiddo, followed almost immediately by his mother. From burger flipper, I became a clinic ferry service. Now, Uncle Burger is sick - who's gonna ferry me? :-(

Uncle Burger drools
Was at the dealer's earlier this morning just to bum around, when this came off the shop floor:
Kawasaki ER-6n
The shop already had a blue-colored one inside, but apparently this all-black just came in from the factory. The black bike is unique in the sense that its frame is also in black powdercoat - other colors have a silver-colored frame.
A real bargain for a 650cc midrange standard bike at RM28,000 but still out of my budget. I need you guys to eat more Uncle Burgers ;-)

What's your hobby?
You should know by now (and shame on you if you don't; what with the littering of magazines around the stall, LOL) that my passion is biking. The motorized version, that is.
It had always been since I got my licence like, ohh ... 20-odd years ago :-p Back then, I had an old, beat-up Yamaha RX-100 that as I recalled, cost my late grandma (God bless her soul) RM3,000 *gulp* used for her younger of grandchildren. Me lah.
I took that bike everywhere. And I mean, everywhere ... It got me to school for a year, I had the taste of asphalt early on then when I hit some oil put down by some lousy car owner-but-not-maintainer and went sliding, face-down ... Then I took the bike to college where it - due to old age, I guess - jammed its throttle cable, and sent me sliding face-down yet once again thru a corner of a hill road. That time, I wasn't so lucky: had stitches for a big gash on my chin and ankle. Not good.
But fear not, for incidents like this is all part of biking. One just has to learn from those early spills that any biker will tell you, is what makes a biker truly proficient in the skills of riding a motorcycle. SO if you happen to be a mom or a dad that has a kid who's perpetually on his/her bike ... take heart. Just say a lil prayer to the Lord to keep the fella away from other vehicles on the road when he/she eventually bites the dust. And for all you younger ones that are already riding - it's never about the speed, ok?
You want speed? Get the proper equipment and get on the race track. Mat Rempit is NOT cool.
Trust me: there IS a skill on how to get out of a motorcycle crash with little more than a few scrapes and bruises. Wanna learn? Uncle Burger will give a crash course (no pun intended.) Just make sure you have my burgers ;-)

The Olympics and UB
Here's another question for you folks:
As most of everyone knows, the 2008 Summer Olympics - known formally as Games of the XXIX Olympiad - will be held in Beijing from August 8 onwards for over 2 weeks.
Should Uncle Burger whip up something to commemorate the event, or perhaps have some special opening hours for the duration of the Games?
Comments, comments!

Did you know that ...
I was just wondering - after being fed some really amusing replies at the kiosk:
Do you folks know what kind of greens that go into your UB burgers?
Let's find out from your comments to this post, hehehehe ... ;-)

Action in the neighborhood
BOOM!! And what sounded like really gigantic firecrackers going off filled the neighborhood air as this power line post, fed right off the sub-station beside it, started to blow up ... sparks and the fire you see here resulted.
A frantic call by neighbors to Tenaga Nasional ... and the reply?
"Haa? Letup ka? Ada api? Ooo ... nanti kita orang pergi tengok camana ..."
Bye-bye, Darth Vader
I had to sell off Darth Vader to make ends meet after the fuel price hike.
Darth Vader is the name I gave to my beloved big scooter; a Modenas Elegan. Bought it just recently before Chinese New Year 2008, end-January. DV had barely a scratch; its odometer just showing a whisker past 700km worth of rides. The only time DV went further than the streets of Ipoh is when I took it to Taiping for the CNY ... it was amazing. You would think that a scooter is only good for ... well, scooting about town. But noooo, DV the Elegan could do highway-legal speeds 110km/h with utter ease, and more - even with big 'ol Uncle Burger onboard.
It was a joy to ride. But most importantly, it was the "symbol"- if you will - of Uncle Burger the business. DV was bought with the hard-earned money saved from serving my humble burgers to all you great supportive folks ... here's a word of great thanks to everyone.
But, alas - Darth Vader had to go.
I'm too sad to continue this post ... talking about DV always brings tears to these pair of eyes ...

Just can't get this blogging thing right, can't I?
Sigh ... I'm so sorry, folks.
This recent fuel price hike has been quite a beater on Uncle Burger. Just 2 days after I opened at the stadium's foodcourt ... That very night saw a near-empty foodcourt, when everyone decided to turn into the closest gas station they could find and spend that burger money on filling up the car tank instead.
Better the car "eat" first ... else owner also don't get to eat :-p
Hell; even many stall owners at the foodcourt were driving out to fill up their cars and vans also! Whattodoo, whattodoo ...

Whoa! Been that long, eh?
My apologies for those who had patiently (or is it stubbornly?) staked out this blog!
I honestly don't know what came over me, for not updating ... a combination of work exhaustion and just plain laziness, I guess.
Wait - that sounds kinda like an oxymoron, doesn't it?
Anywayyyy ... I'll most definitely be updating more regularly from this post thereon. Not exactly now ... but I'll get to some important bits I'd like to share with all and sundry tomorrow. Well ... in a few hours :p It's way past 0200hrs and oh-3 is closing. I'm pooped.
Laters!
